Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI assistant work?
GardenMind uses AI to answer your gardening questions. The assistant knows about your garden plants, beds, and planting dates, so it can give personalized advice. You can also send photos for plant identification or disease diagnosis.
How are daily tasks generated?
Tasks are generated based on your actual plants and their needs. Watering tasks consider each plant's water requirements and when you last watered. The app checks local weather and suppresses watering tasks when it's raining. Harvest tasks appear when plants reach maturity based on their planting date.
Can I diagnose plant diseases with a photo?
Yes! In the AI Chat, tap the camera icon to attach a photo of your plant. The AI will identify the plant and diagnose any visible diseases or pest issues, along with treatment recommendations. For best results, take a close-up photo of the affected area in good lighting.
What is the garden map?
The garden map lets you organize plants into beds visually. You can create multiple beds, drag plants to arrange them, and see companion planting compatibility. Green borders mean good companions, red means plants that should be kept apart.
How do I delete my account and data?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your garden data, journal entries, chat history, and account. See our deletion page for full details.
Is my garden data backed up?
Yes. When you sign in with Google, all your garden data is stored in the cloud and syncs automatically. If you reinstall the app or switch devices, your data will be restored when you sign in with the same account.
How many plants are in the database?
GardenMind includes a curated database of 500+ plants with complete care guides: watering needs, sunlight requirements, spacing, USDA zones, harvest times, companion planting info, and common diseases with symptoms and treatments.
